Vucevic: We are strengthening defence capabilities to protect our sovereignty

BELGRADE - Serbia is a militarily neutral country but, in view of the geopolitical situation, it must engage further on boosting its defence capabilities to protect its sovereignty, Defence Minister Milos Vucevic said on Thursday.

Vucevic was commenting on negative reactions from the West over Serbia's recent acquisition of a Russian-made anti-UAV system.

Dacic: UNSC session on 1999 bombing of FR Yugoslavia still uncertain

BELGRADE - Serbia's caretaker FM Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday it was still uncertain whether a March 25 UN Security Council session that would mark 25 years since the 1999 NATO bombing of the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) would take place.

The session has been requested by Russia.

Dacic: Non-recognisers of so-called Kosovo want clarification on Chapter 35

BELGRADE - Serbian FM Ivica Dacic said on Wednesday Belgrade had information EU member states that did not recognise the so-called Kosovo had requested clarification on a potential inclusion of the Ohrid Agreement into Chapter 35 of Serbia's EU accession talks and time to take positions that would not harm them and their interests.

Kovac: No consensus on sanctions, EP resolution to be non-binding

BELGRADE - Commenting on a draft European Parliament resolution calling on the EU to impose sanctions against Serbia that would be similar to those against the so-called Kosovo, Elvira Kovac, a member of the Serbian delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, said on Wednesday the resolution would not be binding.

"Serbia is not preparing for waging a war, but has done everything to de-escalate conflicts," the Serbian president said.
He said that Serbia's not preparing for war but is "ready to save lives and save the country from everyone who would endanger its sovereignty".
