Arçelik, a leading white goods producer in Turkey, on Feb. 13 filed a case for patent infringement against South Korean appliances manufacturer LG Electronics and its subsidiaries in France and Germany.

Half a Million Hotpoint and Indesit Washing Machines Withdrawn from the Market
Half a million Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines will be decommissioned because of the potential risk of fire, the manufacturer Whirlpool reported.
About 519,000 of the machines sold in the UK between October 2014 and February 2018 could be affected by damage to the door lock system, which could lead to overheating and ignition, Sky News reported.

Angry Turkish man hurls washing machine from balcony onto parked car
An angry man in the Gaziemir district of the Aegean province of İzmir threw a washing machine down from his home on the third floor on a car that was parked in front of his flat on Jan 8, causing damage to the vehicle.
Police were called to inspect the incident.
Turkey's home appliances giant starts investment plans to establish new factory for 70 mln euros
Turkey's Vestel Home Appliances has announced new investment works to establish a new washing machine and drier factory in the Aegean province of Manisa for around 70 million euros.
The company said in a Dec. 27 statement to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) that it was conducting talks with lenders and financial institutions to secure the required financing.
Athens mayor inaugurates 'social laundry'
Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis is seen Tuesday during the inauguration of a free public laundry service at the Homeless Shelter of the City of Athens (KYADA), near the capital's Larissis Station. The facility, which includes five professional washing machines and five dryers, will be available to individuals with no access to basic services such as electricity or water.
