Israelis awaited word on how Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would respond to Iran's first-ever direct attack as international pressure for restraint grew amid fears of an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a strong condemnation of Iran's recent attack on Israel, labeling it as "unacceptable" and expressing deep concern over the unprecedented escalation of hostilities in the region. In a statement released today, the Ministry emphasized the serious threat that such actions pose to regional security.

Iran launched a significant attack on Israel, firing numerous drones and missiles, which both Tel Aviv and Tehran confirmed. The attack was purportedly in retaliation for Israel's assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, resulting in casualties.

The United States, Britain, and France have issued advisories urging their citizens to avoid travel to Iran, Lebanon, Israel, and the Palestinian territories in the coming days. This caution follows Iran's threat of retaliation after an Israeli airstrike targeted the Iranian consulate in Syria a week and a half ago.

Türkiye has condemned the Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus which targeted and killed several senior Iranian officials.

"We condemn the Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus. Israel's action adds to its recent violations of international law," read the statement issued by the Foreign Ministry late on April 2.

Syrian state television, as quoted by the Associated Press, reported that two individuals were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Damascus, with additional material damage reported.

Apart from them, around 20 members were wounded in the attack carried out by the "Islamic Resistance" after midnight on Sunday to Monday, where the base was targeted by a drone, as part of the "Revenge for Gaza" campaign, and the number is likely to increase.

An Israeli strike on the Syrian capital on Saturday destroyed a building used by the Iranian paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, killing at least five Iranians, Syrian and Iranian state media reported.

An Israeli strike on Damascus killed five people in a building where "Iran-aligned leaders" were meeting on Saturday, a war monitor said, as regional tensions soar over the Israel-Hamas war.

At least nine civilians, including two children, were killed yesterday in air strikes on Syria likely to have been carried out by Jordan against drug-traffickers, a monitor and media outlet reported.
