Germany's Ambassador to Greece, Ernst Reichel, expressed his sadness over the death of two Greek nationals in the German city of Trier, after a German man ploughed a speeding car into a pedestrian zone on Tuesday.

Greece expects to receive confirmation of interest in investments from German companies and  the German government with the announcement of business deals at Monday's Greek-German Business Forum in Berlin, where Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are keynote speakers.

Berlin shares Athens' basic positions on the migration issue, Germany's new Ambassador to Greece Ernst Reichel has said in an interview with Kathimerini. Reichel says that given the bloc's failure to reach a consensus on the issue, the German government favors establishing a critical mass of European Union member-states willing to create a relocation system.

Greece and Germany must strip away stereotypes and fixations and instead focus on the things that unite them in their effort to build a future together, German Ambassador to Athens Ernst Reichel has said.

Newly appointed German Ambassador to Greece Ernst Reichel commemorated on Wednesday the victims of a Nazi massacre in the Achaia mountain town of Kalavryta in World War II.

In a post on Twitter in Greek and German, Germany's new ambassador in Athens, Ernst Reichel, announced his arrival.

Reichel, who said "Hello Greece!" in both Greek and Germany, previously served as Germany's ambassador to Ukraine and as the head of the German Foreign Ministry's office for Southeastern Europe and Turkey.
