Construction of nuclear waste repository to start in 2022

Krško – The construction of a special storage facility for low- and intermediate-level waste at the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NEK) is expected to start at the beginning of 2022, as the project is in the final stages of obtaining necessary documentation and selecting contractors.

Combined estimated worth of 100 richest Slovenians record-high

Ljubljana – The 100 wealthiest Slovenians are worth a combined EUR 7.1 billion, which is a record amount and almost a quarter or EUR 1.3 billion more than a year ago. There are no changes on the top, with the assets of Iza Sia Login and Samo Login being almost double of that of the second-placed couple of Sandi Češko and Livija Dolanc.

Expo Dubai official excited about Slovenia’s pavilion

Ljubljana – Preparations for the 2020 Dubai Expo are going as planned despite the pandemic, Omar Shehadeh, chief international participants officer for the Expo 2020 Dubai told the STA in an interview. He said every participating country would have a pavilion of its own for the first time ever and that he was excited about Slovenia’s contribution.

Prešeren Prizes go to author Feri Lainšček, architect Marko Mušič

Ljubljana – Feri Lainšček, a writer and poet from Slovenia’s north-easternmost region, and Marko Mušič, an architect who has made a name for himself in Slovenia and throughout the former Yugoslavia, are the winners of the Prešeren Prizes for lifetime-achievement for 2021. The country’s top accolades for artistic accomplishments will be presented on 7 February.
