Doctors call for precautions as West Nile Virus continues to spread

The Athens Medical Association (ISA) has renewed its call to the public to take all the necessary precautions as the West Nile Virus continues to spread across the country.
According to the latest data, the number of infections has risen to 96 while the death toll has climbed to 10.

Anti-mosquito measures advised

The Athens Medical Association (ISA) is urging the public to take all necessary precautions in view of the spread of West Nile virus.
In a statement Friday, ISA advised people to spray insect repellent on their skin and clothing, and to use mosquito nets, fans or air conditioners and yellow bug lights.

In a statement, it noted that there were 316 reported cases of the mosquito-borne infection last year, and that 50 of them were fatal. Most of the deaths, it said, were recorded in Attica.
