United States Ambassador to Greece George J. Tsunis is traveling to Moldova December 5-7 and Bulgaria December 11-12, 2023 to strengthen regional energy cooperation and infrastructure connectivity along the corridor between Greece and Ukraine. These trips and a planned one to Romania in early 2024 seek to foster a more resilient, prosperous, and secure future in southeast Europe. 

Diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Greece were established in 1880, developed gradually over the years, and today they are at an exceptional stage of maturity.  They develop constructively, showing an upward trend in all areas, especially after the accession of Bulgaria to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in March 2004 and its membership in the EU from January 1, 2007.

Only passengers travelling to the United Kingdom are subjected to quarantine. 

The majority of countries in the region require confirmation of vaccination or negative PCR or antigen test made less than 48 or 72 hours prior to travel in order to avoid 7-14-day quarantine.

Some countries require completion of online health forms or medical checks upon arrival. 

As of July 1, 2021, Bulgaria will become the rotating chair of the SEDM process (South East Europe Defence Ministerial). In preparation for the adoption of the mandate, representatives of the current President of the Republic of Albania are visiting Sofia until 18 June.

Free movement between North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro will be fully liberalized.

President Rumen Radev and Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic, who is visiting Sofia, discussed at a meeting held at 2 Dondukov street promoting trade and investment exchange between Bulgaria and Montenegro and improving connectivity in Southeastern Europe. The meeting was also attended by Vice-president Iliana Iotova, the presidential office reported.

Albanian President Ilir Meta, who spoke on the plenary session of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) right before Serbian Prime Minister, called on Bosnia-Herzegovina to recognize "the fact that Kosovo is an independent and sovereign state".

In Sarajevo on Monday, State Secretary for Inter-Institutional Relations with Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) Maria Magdalena Grigore reiterated Romania's firm support for the continuation of the EU enlargement process toward the Southeast European region, which was a priority file on the agenda of the former Romanian presidency of the EU Council.

The South-East European Cooperation Process, SEECP summit began in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo on Monday without delegations from Kosovo and Albania, which refused to participate.
