Turkey's military operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) will continue, the country's interior minister has promised as fresh clashes between security forces and militants resulted in the death of a child in the southeast.

The Interior Ministry has published figures about the latest operations targeting outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in curfew-declared towns of Turkey's southeast on Feb. 14.

Residents seeking to return to their normal daily lives in southeastern Diyarbak?r province's "devastated" Sur district, which has been the scene of weeks-long military operations against militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), will have to wait five or six years, Turkey's main opposition party has said.

While military operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) are coming to an end in the southeastern town of Cizre, they will be intensified in the region's ?dil and Nusaybin districts, according to Turkish Interior Minister Efkan Ala.

Turkish security forces are expected to expand the scope of ongoing anti-terror operations in Southeastern Anatolian by including the ?dil district of ??rnak, Nusaybin district of Mardin and Yüksekova district of Hakkari, according to information daily Hürriyet has gathered from security officials. 

Turkey is set to beef up the protected military equipment and weapon systems used in street clashes between security forces and outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the country's violence-hit southeast.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has unveiled a much-touted "action plan" aimed at "repairing" eastern and southeastern Turkey, which has been traumatized by months of ongoing conflict between security forces and militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

The Turkish government has estimated that ongoing military operations against militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the districts of Cizre in ??rnak and the district of Sur in Diyarbak?r in Southeast Anatolia would be completed within days or weeks.

Before starting a series of official meetings in Chile on Jan. 31, Turkish President Tayyip Erdo?an told reporters covering his trip that "the people from the southeast" have been sending messages to Ankara that the fight against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) should "go on until the end." He stressed that the government was resolved to see to this.

Some 11 tons of armaments have been seized in Sur alone, one of the several southeastern districts where clashes are ongoing between Turkey's security forces and the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), proving that the operations are justified, Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has said.
