Bulgarian Troops Guarding Macedonia, Greece, Turkey Borders over Migrant Influx

A total of 111 troops are patrolling along Bulgaria's borders with three of its neighbors as of Sunday noon, Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev has said.

So far there is no information about "terrorist" having crossed the borders in the last weeks, in his words.

Bulgaria, Greece 'Not Letting in Syria Refugees from Edirne', Turkey Says

Turkey is keeping hundreds of refugees in because of resistance from Bulgaria and Greece, Trade Minister Cenap A?ç? has announced.

His comments come as Syrian refugees held on Saturday a demonstration in the southwestern city of Edirne, demanding that authorities let them leave for either Bulgaria or Greece.

Migrants Start Walking from Turkey's Edirne to Border with Greece

Thousands of migrants have set off on foot to the border with Greece after spending the past three days in makeshift camps in the fileds near the Turkish city of Edirne, Bulgaria's bTV station reported on Friday.

Police and gendarmerie forces later halted their advance. The migrants are now closer to Pazarkuke border crossing with Greece.

Cities Across Bulgaria-Turkey Border at Odds over Park Name

The Bulgarian city of Haskovo and its Turkish sister city of Edirne are freezing ties over Haskovo's grant the name Armentsi ("Armenians") to a park located on its territory.

The move, triggered by the Turkish side, was announced in official letter by Edirne Mayor Recep Gürkan, quoted by a Haskovo-based local news service Haskovo.net.
