Fethullah Gülen's brother detained in Turkey's İzmir

Police have detained the brother of the U.S.-based Islamic preacher Fethullah Gülen in the western Turkish province of İzmir. 
Kutbettin Gülen was detained on Oct. 2 by İzmir's counter-terrorism police as a part of the investigation into the failed July 15 coup attempt, believed to have been masterminded by the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

'Romani Bambino' returns home to Gaziantep after 85 years

A Roman-era child statue, which was unearthed in the ancient city of Zeugma in Turkey's southeastern province of Gaziantep in 1931 but then sent to the southern province of Adana, was brought back to the city after 85 years. 
The opening of the statue called the "Romani Bambino" was held at a ceremony at the Zeugma Mosaic Museum. 

Police detain ISIL militant preparing attack on cemevi in Gaziantep

Police in the southeastern province of Gaziantep on Sept. 17 took extensive measures after detaining a suspected Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militant who possessed pictures of a cemevi, a house of worship used by adherents of the Alevi sect, and was confirmed to be preparing a terror attack.

Syrian journalist attacked by ISIL in Turkey dies

A Syrian journalist who was shot in the Turkish city of Gaziantep in an attack claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has died from his wounds.
     
Mohammed Zahir al-Sherqat died on the afternoon of April 12 in a hospital in Gaziantep, near the Syrian border, according to his friend Barry Abdulattif, a Syrian activist.
