COVID-19: Changes in Classes of Students in Bulgaria

The growth of coronavirus patients has imposed new restrictions on teachers and students in the country.

As of today, the attendance classes for all students from 1st to 12th grade in Plovdiv are suspended. Students in the municipalities of Sopot, Asenovgrad and Maritsa are also moving entirely to online education.

Four Cases of Measles Registered During the Weekend in Plovdiv

Four new cases of measles were registered during the past weekend in Plovdiv, Dr Monika Troyancheva from Plovdiv Regional Health Inspection (RHI) told Radio FOCUS - Plovdiv. There are a total of 65 cases registered so far.

"Their number is updated every day, as not all of them are proved for sure," Dr Troyancheva explained.

Excavation of Bulgaria's Largest Thracian Mound to Begin in May

The excavation of the largest unstudied Thracian mound in Bulgaria and the Balkan peninsula will begin in May.

The Thracian mound of Maltepe, is located near the village of Manole, fifteen kilometres from the city of Plovdiv.

The final aim of the project, which is worth BGN 1.6 M, is to establish an archaeological centre with an open-air museum.

River in Southern Bulgaria Bursts Dike, Threatens to Flood Village, Motorway

The river Stryama burst a dike on the territory of Maritsa municipality in southern Bulgaria, threatening to flood the nearby village of Trilistnik and Trakia Motorway.

Urgent measures have been taken to reinforce the breached dike, Focus news agency reports.

US Sensata Constructs Second Manufacturing Plant in Bulgaria

The US company Sensata, which is a leading supplier of sensors and controls, is constructing its second manufacturing plant in Bulgaria.

The mayor of Maritsa municipality Dimitar Ivanov explained that the first stage of the plant will become operational in June and will employ 1500 people, the news website Dnevnik reports.
