ATHEX benchmark posts drop after system glitch

Greek stocks retreated on the Athens Stock Exchange (ATHEX) on Wednesday, while turnover was particularly low following a technical glitch.

ATHEX trading was temporarily suspended from 12.45 to 1.40 p.m. due to a general technical problem that affected the price data feed subsystem.

The ATHEX general index ended at 758.04 points, down 0.43 percent from Tuesday's 761.29 points.

Trading volume sinks to 16 mln euros

August dawned on the Greek bourse with a return to poor trading volume on Wednesday. Still, the Athens Exchange (ATHEX) benchmark ended in the black after earlier losses were offset during the closing auctions.

The ATHEX general index ended at 761.66 points, adding 0.06 percent to Tuesday's 761.23 points.

Greek banks agree loan-servicing deal with Italy-based doBank

The top four Greek banks agreed to have Italy's doBank manage a combined 1.8 billion euros worth of their non-performing credit, the banks said on Wednesday.

DoBank will manage the non-performing debt held by Piraeus, National, Eurobank and Alpha of more than 300 Greek small and mid-sized businesses, facilitating restructuring when it's feasible, the banks said.

ATHEX: Stocks edge higher on increased turnover

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) registered its highest daily turnover in 22 sessions following the publication of the International Monetary Fund's Article IV report on Tuesday, although there was a mixed overall picture for local stocks, with mid-caps sliding.

The ATHEX general index ended at 761.23 points, adding 0.40 percent to Monday's 758.18 points.
