Thousands of Corsican nationalists protested in Ajaccio, the island's capital, for greater autonomy from France, Euronews reported.

In Switzerland eight people were injured when strong winds blew a train carriage off the rails on Wednesday. The accident happened near Lenk on the Montreux Oberland Bernois regional service at around midday.

A police spokesman said seven people with slight injuries were taken to hospital in ambulances while the eighth was flown by helicopter.

BELGRADE - Serbia is firmly on its path towards the EU and on its position of military neutrality, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday.

Vucic said this after a joint exercise of Serbian and US paratroopers at Lisicji jarak in response to a Euronews question whether the drill would change Serbia's position.

The airport in Hamburg, northern Germany was shut down and all flights were suspended for nearly an hour after bad odour left a number of passenges incapacitated.

Flights into and out of the airport resumed promptly. According to Euronews, which cited local media, the problem was reportedly caused by the air conditioning system.

According to Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev, being a member of the EU is the only only way forward for achieving prosperity, safety and security.

Plevneliev wants Bulgaria to be a proud member of the EU and not subordinate to one of the world powers.
