GERB leader Boyko Borissov, along with Democratic Bulgaria co-chair Hristo Ivanov and We Continue the Change co-chair Asen Vassilev, jointly announced their intention to request the resignation of the Governor and Deputy Governor of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov raised concerns regarding the recent appointment of Momchil Mavrov as Deputy Governor of the National Health Insurance Fund, citing violations of key principles and alleged lobbying.

In a closely contested decision, Momchil Mavrov has secured the position of deputy governor at the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), having been nominated by the GERB-SDS party. The mandate for this role extends until November 30, 2028, following a vote of 103 MPs in favor and 83 against.

Covid zones have reduced the pressure on hospitals, the press service of the Ministry of Health announced.
