University of Piraeus tests first solar-powered electric car charging station

Greece?s first solar-powered charging station for electric cars ensures 100 percent green energy and was recently launched by the Piraeus University of Applied Sciences. It is still in the experimental stage and is being used for training and research purposes.

Renewables Reduced Carbon Emissions in Europe - EEA

The latest report of the European Environment Agency (EEA) shows that renewable energy sources have been an important driving force in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Europe.

According to the report entitled "Renewable energy in Europe - approximated recent growth and knock-on effects", greenhouse gas emissions would have been 7 % higher without renewables.

Pay structure in public sector still not unified

Almost three years after legislation was passed to create a unified pay structure in the public sector, many discrepancies still exist in the salaries civil servants receive.

In October 2011 the government approved a law introducing an across-the-board wage system with the aim of reducing salary costs and eliminating numerous inequalities.

Bulgarian Renewable Energy Producers May Sue Watchdog over Tariff Cuts

Renewable energy producers have threatened to sue Bulgaria's energy watchdog due to its intentions to impose a dramatic reduction in preferential tariffs.

The decrease in the preferential tariff for wind farms is by 20-22% and for photovoltaic plants by over 50%, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).
