Russia will Build the First Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt

Egypt and Russia signed a contract to build the first nuclear power plant in the North African country. This happened during a visit to the Russian side of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The NPP's construction contract was signed at a ceremony on state television, attended by Vladimir Putin and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi, AFP reported.

Russia's Rosatom to Start Turkish Akkuyu NPP Project Implementation Shortly

Russian state-run nuclear corporation Rosatom will soon start work on the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project in Turkey. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to attend the ceremony to pour the first concrete at the Akkuyu NPP.

Russia set to finish Akkuyu nuclear plant licensing by year-end

Russia hopes to finalize all necessary licenses and permits for Akkuyu, Turkey's first nuclear plant, by the end of the year, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak has said.

Contracting parties are working to obtain the last of the licenses for Akkuyu, Novak told state-run Anadolu Agency over the Aug. 19-20 weekend.

Bulgaria to Launch Tender to Sell Belene Nuclear Project Next Year

 Bulgaria plans to launch a tender to sell its abandoned 2,000 megawatt nuclear power project Belene in early 2018, Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said on Tuesday, quoted by REUTERS. 

The previous government cancelled the Belene project in 2012 after failing to find foreign investors and under pressure from Brussels and Washington to limit its energy dependence on Russia.
