Obama sees parallels in Trump, Brexit votes

President Barack Obama says one of the lessons he's learned from recent elections is the need to address inequality, economic dislocation and peoples fear that their children won't do as well as they have done.

Obama is being asked about what comparisons he draws from Donald Trump's election victory and the vote by Britain to leave the European Union.

Syria condemns Turkey 'cross-border shelling'

Syria's government has condemned alleged cross-border shelling by Turkish forces on Feb. 1 as a "blatant breach of international law", state media reported.
 
Late on Feb. 1, state news agency SANA quoted a source in the Syrian foreign ministry as condemning the reported artillery fire into northern Latakia province.
 

British PM, new opposition leader spar politely in parliament's ritual joust

The new leader of Britain?s opposition Labour Party, veteran leftist Jeremy Corbyn, confronted Prime Minister David Cameron in parliament for the first time on Sept. 16 and said the house?s raucous weekly question-and-answer session should be less theatrical and more about hearing ordinary people?s voices.
