Tsipras to meet Erdogan in New York

Ankara's extradition request for the eight Turkish servicemen who fled to Greece after the failed 2016 coup, the Cyprus peace process and bilateral ties are expected to be at the center of talks, as Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan meet in New York Tuesday on the sidelines of the 73rd UN General Assembly. 

Greece at risk of missing EU waste management targets

Greece is among the 14 EU member-states that are at risk of missing the 2020 target of 50 percent recycling of municipal waste, the European Commission said in a report on the implementation of EU legislation published on Monday.

Besides Greece, the other countries are Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Spain.

Tsipras, Erdogan to discuss bilateral issues in New York next week

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in New York next week, on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

The two leaders are expected to discuss Cyprus, energy issues in the eastern Mediterranean and the eight Turkish servicemen who sought asylum in Greece after the botched coup attempt in Turkey in 2016.
