Romania's Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu on Monday welcomed Chairman of the Swedish Parliament Urban Alhin, who was visiting Romania at the invitation of Speaker of Romania's Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea.

Greece?s biggest toy retailer Jumbo on Monday posted a 7 percent rise in profit for the nine-month period ending in March and reaffirmed its forecast for a 4-6 percent rise in full-year sales despite tough conditions in Greece.

Despite a six-year recession in Greece, Jumbo has fared well, helped by its expansion into foreign markets.

Deputies' Chamber Speaker Valeriu Zgonea on Monday, at the end of the meeting with Kingdom of Sweden Parliament Speaker Urban Ahlin, said that Romania is "an exporter of good practices" in the area of integration in the European Union.

The Romanian Agency for Fiscal Administration, ANAF, is to verify whether there are differences between the money declared by the 50 HSBC clients and the amounts found in their accounts in Switzerland, according to media reports on Monday.

Any unreported income will be taxed at 16 per cent, ANAF officials were quoted as saying by Digi24 television.

The Court of Appeal in Bucharest on Friday jailed Cristian Poteras, the former mayor of the city's District 6, for eight years without parole.

Poteras was found guilty of abuse of office in a case related to illegal real estate transactions in the capital involving land seized by Romania's former Communist regime.

President Klaus Iohannis on Monday in the opening ceremony of the "Security in the Black Sea Region. Common Challenges, Sustainable Future" International Programme said that Romania "must consolidate its strategic credibility."

The macroeconomic confidence index recorded an increase of 2.6 points in April 2015 from the previous month, hitting 70.7 points, which is a new record, shows data referred this Monday to AGERPRES by CFA Romania.
