Greece's Jumbo reports 7 pct increase in profits

Greece?s biggest toy retailer Jumbo on Monday posted a 7 percent rise in profit for the nine-month period ending in March and reaffirmed its forecast for a 4-6 percent rise in full-year sales despite tough conditions in Greece.

Despite a six-year recession in Greece, Jumbo has fared well, helped by its expansion into foreign markets.

Exercises at allied level will be more numerous in 2015 (Defence minister Dusa)

In 2014, the number of exercises and training activities has nationally increased by 25 pct as compared to 2013, and those executed at bilateral/allied level have recorded a 133 pct growth, the National Defence minister Mircea Dusa said on Monday, at the annual reunion of the Defence attaches accredited in Bucharest.

Romanians Linked to HSBC Scandal Face Probe

The Romanian Agency for Fiscal Administration, ANAF, is to verify whether there are differences between the money declared by the 50 HSBC clients and the amounts found in their accounts in Switzerland, according to media reports on Monday.

Any unreported income will be taxed at 16 per cent, ANAF officials were quoted as saying by Digi24 television.

Former Romanian Mayor Jailed For Land Swindle

The Court of Appeal in Bucharest on Friday jailed Cristian Poteras, the former mayor of the city's District 6, for eight years without parole.

Poteras was found guilty of abuse of office in a case related to illegal real estate transactions in the capital involving land seized by Romania's former Communist regime.
