Tourist visits in Serbia up by 6.6 pct y-o-y in June

BELGRADE - Serbia registered 6.6 pct more tourist visits in June 2024 relative to the same month of last year and the number of overnight stays was up by 6.0 pct y-o-y, according to figures released by the national statistical office.

Overnight stays generated by Serbian tourists were up by 1.8 pct y-o-y, while those generated by foreign tourists were up by 11.4 pct y-o-y.

Vucic, Chinese ambassador discuss economic ties, geopolitical situation

Stojacic's last-second shot downs Netherlands in Olympic 3x3 basketball tournament

PARIS - The Serbia men's 3x3 basketball team defeated the Netherlands 21-19 at the Paris Olympic Games on Thursday.

Strahinja Stojacic won the game for Serbia with a last-second two-pointer.

Marko Brankovic led the scoring for Serbia with nine points, Mihailo Vasic scored five and Dejan Majstorovic and Stojacic added four and three points, respectively.

Serbia demolishes Puerto Rico in Olympic men's basketball tournament

LILLE - The Serbia men's national basketball team demolished Puerto Rico 107-66 in a Group C Round 2 game of the Olympic tournament in Lille on Wednesday evening.

Nikola Jokic led Serbia with 14 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists.

He did not play in the fourth quarter, finishing one assist short of becoming the fourth player in Olympic history to get a triple-double.

Serbian parliament passes declaration on rights and joint future of Serbs

BELGRADE - Serbian MPs adopted on Wednesday a Declaration on Protection of the National and Political Rights and the Joint Future of the Serbs.

One hundred and thirty-nine MPs voted for the declaration, nine voted against, there were no abstentions and six MPs took no part in the vote.

Djuric meets with Latvian FM in Riga

RIGA - Serbian FM Marko Djuric met with his Latvian counterpart Baiba Braze in Riga on Wednesday, and informed her of the difficult position of the Serb community in Kosovo-Metohija as well as of the challenges facing Serbia regarding that issue.

Djuric, who is on a one-day working visit to Latvia, noted that Serbia was very committed to finding rational and compromise solutions.
