Political power struggles should not hurt freedom of expression: Foundation chief

Probe launched into two police officers for slapping man in Beyo?lu

Two police officers in Istanbul's central Beyo?lu district face suspension and a discipline investigation after video footage showed them slapping and threatening two university students. 

Istanbul police released a written statement on Nov. 11 about media reports with the headline "Police slapped young man in Beyo?lu after quarrel" and reported on the related incident.

One civilian killed in PKK attack in Turkey's southeast

One civilian was killed in an outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) attack targeting police on Nov. 11 in the southeastern province of Mardin while one police officer was injured.

PKK militants detonated a bomb-laden vehicle during the passing of an armored police vehicle in the Dargeçit district. According to reports, PKK militants seized the vehicle 20 days ago.
