Shopping habits hurting endangered species
The hidden danger to wildlife posed by imported consumer goods - an espresso coffee in Beijing, a tofu salad in Chicago - can now be pinpointed and measured, researchers said Jan. 5.
Crunching huge amounts of data, they unveiled a global "threat map" detailing the impact on endangered species of exports to the United States, China, Japan and the European Union.

US embassy warns citizens after İzmir attack
The U.S. Embassy has issued a warning to its citizens to avoid an area of İzmir's Bayraklı district following an attack near a courthouse in the vicinity.
"The U.S. Embassy reminds U.S. citizens that extremist groups are continuing aggressive efforts to conduct attacks in areas where U.S. citizens and expatriates reside or frequent," read the statement on Jan. 5.

US: İncirlik invaluable for anti-ISIL fight

Serbia captain Filipovic named world's top water polo player
The prestigious U.S. magazine Swimming World has named Serbia's Filip Filipovic male water polo player of the year for 2016.
Filipovic, captain of the Serbia national team, won the long-awaited Olympic gold and the Player of the Tournament Award in Rio de Janeiro, and was subsequently named Best Male Athlete of the Year by the Olympic Committee of Serbia in December.
