Spring for Christmas, Proper Winter for New Year

The unusually warm weather in Bulgaria will last throughout Christmas and the temperatures will remain spring-like, reports the bTV national channel.

The weather in the ski resorts will also be abnormally warm.

On Thursday, however, a Mediterranean cyclone will bring first rain and then snow in the weekend. Temperatures over the weekend are expected to drop below zero.

Resistance to German anti-immigrant movement mounts

President Erdoğan extends Christmas greetings to Christians of Turkey

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan extended his Christmas greetings to the Turkish citizens of the Christian faith through a written statement on Dec. 24, Christmas Eve.

“I would like to congratulate once again Christmas Day of all of the Christian world, and particularly our Christian citizens, and I wish them peace, happiness and welfare,” read Erdoğan’s statement.

The Greek bourse reacted calmly on Tuesday to the result of the presidential vote in Parliament, which while seeing a rise in support for the government’s candidate was still some way off the result required in next Monday’s third and final vote. The majority of stocks posted small losses on a day of poor turnover ahead of the Christmas recess.
