Greeks celebrate Christmas in Turkey with festive Istanbul rally

Members of the Greek minority in Istanbul marked Christmas on Thursday by taking out a celebration rally on Istiklal Street, Beyoglu (Pera), where they sang their traditional carols “Kalanta” and handed out sweets.

Dozens of Greeks gathered in front of the 19th century Greek school, Zografeion Lyceum. They then marked to the Consulate General of Greece.

Three security force members, two civilians killed in latest attacks in south, southeast

Three members of Turkish security forces were killed during the clashes with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) while one teenager and one woman were killed during clashes in the region.

One soldier was killed and six were wounded, including a civilian, in a PKK attack in the curfew-declared Sur district of the southeastern Diyarbak?r province on Dec. 23.

Explosion at Istanbul Airport Leaves One Dead, One Wounded

An explosion at the Sabiha Gokcen airport in the Turkish city of Istanbul early on Wednesday left one woman of the cleaning staff dead and another injured.

The two women were inside an aircraft at the time of the explosion and were transported to hospital, where one of them passed away due to the fatal injuries she had sustained.
