Egypt opens border to wounded Palestinians: official

Egypt opened its Rafah border crossing to Gaza on Thursday to receive wounded Palestinians as Israel pounded the enclave with air strikes, an official at the border said.
      
Hospitals in north Sinai, which borders Gaza and Israel, have been placed on standby to receive the Palestinians, Egypt's official MENA news agency reported.
      

Almost 100 killed in Uganda clashes since weekend: army

At least 96 people have been killed in four days of clashes between tribal gunmen and Ugandan troops in the west of the country, the army said Tuesday.
      
"Since the operation began we have killed 75 attackers," army spokesman Ninsiima Rwemijuma in the Rwenzori region told AFP Tuesday.
      

Turkish A400M carries military equipment in debut international flight

Atlas, a giant A400M carrier plane that the Turkish military acquired from manufacturers Airbus in May, has completed its first international flight, the army said in a written statement July 7.

Atlas carried the Solotürk team, a group of aerobatic display F-16 fighter jets, to London on July 2 and touched down in Luxembourg on its return, the statement read.

More than 60 women, girls escape abductors in Nigeria

More than 60 women and girls abducted last month by suspected Boko Haram militants in northeast Nigeria have escaped their captors, sources said July 7, but more than 200 schoolgirls are still being held by the Islamists.

Local vigilante Abbas Gava said he had "received an alert from my colleagues ... that about 63 of the abducted women and girls had made it back home" late July 5.

Egypt court sentences Brotherhood leader, 36 Islamists to life

An Egyptian court sentenced Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohamed Badie to life in prison on July 5 for inciting the violence that erupted after the army deposed Islamist President Mohamed Mursi last year.

Badie, convicted along with some 36 other Brotherhood leaders and supporters for the same crime, is facing the death sentence in two separate cases.

Raid on Ukraine's pro-Russian Activists 'Kills 150 Rebels' - Army

Ukrainain forces say at least 150 rebels have been killed during heavy fighting in the east of the country.

According to Kiev officials, the army virtually sealed off the town of Mykolayivka after attacking six posts of separatists.

Four soldiers were reportedly injured as a result, the KyivPost wrote Friday.
