Czech Republic with Ultimatum to Moscow about Expelled Diplomats

The foreign minister of the Czech Republic demanded on Wednesday that Russia allow its expelled diplomats to return to Moscow or face further tit-for-tat expulsions.

The new Czech Foreign Minister, Jakub Kulhanek, summoned Russian ambassador Aleksandr Zmeyevsky to Prague to protest what he called Russia's "inappropriate reaction".

Moscow Strikes Back: 20 Czech Diplomats Expelled from Russia

Russia announced that 20 diplomats from the Czech Republic will be expelled from the country as an answer to the expulsion of 18 Russian diplomats on Saturday, news wires reported. Moscow has given the Czech diplomats a day to leave while Prague has given the Russians 72 hours. EU foreign ministers are set to discuss the matter during a meeting today.

Czech Intelligence 'Suspects 3 Russian Diplomats of Being Spies'

The Security Information Service (BIS) of the Czech Republic believes three Russian diplomats might be acting as spies, local media reports suggest.

Following the alert of BIS, the country's national intelligence agency, the three were forced out of the Czech Republic, since their visas and residence permits were not renewed, according to the English-language Ceske Noviny website.
