Motion sent to parliament to lift MP status over slapping police officer

A motion seeking to drop the parliamentarian status of a lawmaker from the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) was submitted to parliament late on June 16.

The action was taken against DBP Diyarbakır Deputy Salihe Aydeniz after a criminal complaint by an Istanbul prosecutor was sent to the Justice Ministry, which reported to the presidency about the procedure.

CHP leader says he is not afraid of losing immunity

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has stated that the government wants to imprison him and called on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to lift his immunity because he is not afraid of it.

The CHP leader shared a video on his Twitter account on July 3, saying that "Let's lift my immunity right now; let's do it together."

Turkey's Interior Ministry has released a 66-page report to justify the appointment of trustees in place of democratically elected politicians in municipalities in the east and southeast of the country, claiming that official vehicles were used to transfer weapons and militants to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), daily Habertürk reported April 6.
