Spain's Leon Government Head Shot Dead in Broad Daylight

Isabel Carrasco, the head of local government in Spain's province of Leon, was shot dead in the regional capital with the same name.

The incident happened just after 5:00 PM, in broad daylight, according to Spain's daily El Pais.

Carrasco was walking to the Popular Party headquarters in Leon when a woman, later detained, fired at her in the street.

'No More' US Warships in Black Sea - Russian Navy

All US warships that were previously deployed to the Black Sea have now left its basin, the Russian Navy's General Staff has announced.

The destroyer USS Taylor was reported by Interfax agency to be in the Mediterranean on Monday after its 21-day-long stay in the Black Sea allowed by the Montreux Convention setting a three-week time limit for foreign vessels.

The Russian MP from the Communist Party Valerii Rishkin said Russia must stop participating in  Eurovision contest and create its own - “Voice of Eurasia”, reports Interfax. 

“The results of the latest Eurovision were the last straw,” he said. “We must leave this contest immediately, it is high time that we stop tolerating this madness. Each year Russia spends EUR 40 M on this.”

Greece's Far-Right Golden Dawn Allowed to Run in EU Elections

Golden Dawn, a Greek party often described as "neo-Nazi", will be able to run in the European elections, the country's Supreme Court ruled on Monday.

The court explained that, under Greek law, candidates cannot stand only if they are convicted and not if a probe has been launched against them, the daily Kathimerini reported.
