Outrageous discounts are the first "mystery" in the Greek market, with supermarket chains successively advertising 50% off specific products. Are they selling below cost to drum up new custom? Probably, but then we see those same products going for half-price at every other supermarket.

Supermarkets have had to reduce the number of customers they serve at any one time by up to 60% due to the stricter measures imposed on retail commerce since Monday, when other stores reopened.
The measures have resulted in long queues outside supermarkets.

Survey points to recovery of Greece's food retail sector
Greece's retail food sector is showing signs of recovery during the current year, after a long period of crisis, according to Professor Georgios Doukidis, an advisor of the Research Institute of Retail Consumer Goods (IELKA), in comments to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Sunday.
