Serbian military pilots join Russians for BARS 2017 exercise

Serbian Air Force pilots and those from the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces on Wednesday started their third joint flight and tactical exercise.

The drill, dubbed BARS 2017, is taking place at the Lipetsk-2 airport, some 500 kilometers southeast of Moscow, the Serbian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

Serbia has needed new MiGs since 2000 - defense minister

Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Tuesday that the MiG-29 warplanes from Russia will arrive to Serbia by the end of the year.

Vulin spoke at a session of the National Assembly's Committee on Defense and Interior Affairs, referencing the used planes that Russia has donated to the Serbian Air Force.

Shugaev: Belgrade's interest in S-300s "under review"

Russia plans to finalize the delivery of MiG-29 fighter jets to Serbia by the end of 2017.

Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Director Dmitry Shugaev said this on Thursday.

"The deliveries have not yet started. Work is being done to that end in line with the plan, agreed on with our partners," he told Sputnik during the Army 2017 Forum.

Serbia to get Russian MiG-29 fighter jets 'within weeks'

Six Mikoyan MiG-29 multipurpose fighter jets, which Russia has presented to Serbia as a gift, will arrive in the Balkan country 'within several days or several weeks,' Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with the Russian president.

The fighter jets will enter service in the Serbian Air Force until the end of 2017 after repairs, the Serbian premier said.

Serbia to Receive Six MiG-29 Jets From Russia by May

Djordjevic: Overhaul, upgrade of Russian jets to cost 185 mln euros

BELGRADE - The overhaul and upgrade of the six MiG-29 fighter jets donated to Serbia by Russia will cost 185 mln euros, and they could start flying at the end of 2017, Serbian Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic said Friday.

If the overhaul is carried out at the Moma Stanojlovic Aviation Institute, this could happen sooner, Djordjevic told a press conference.

MiGs 29 airborne again

BELGRADE - The MiGs 29 of the Serbian Air Force can fly again thanks to the batteries donated by the Russian Federation.

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Chief of the General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic watched the first flight of one of the MiGs on radar on Tuesday.
