Serbian War Crimes Prosecution ‘Extremely Inefficient’, Report Says

A new report published by the Belgrade-based Humanitarian Law Centre on Friday accuses the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office of being "extremely inefficient", while also raising concerns that over a half of the court hearings in war crime trials last year were postponed for COVID-related reasons.

The Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office told BIRN on Thursday that it suspects detained former Kosovo Liberation Army member Tomor Morina of involvement in war crimes against civilians in the Djakovica/Gjakova area of Kosovo from January to June 1999.

Morina was arrested in North Macedonia on Wednesday on a Serbian warrant.

The Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office has indicted eight persons on suspicion that they committed a war crime in Srebrenica.

The indictment was issued against eight former members of the Training Center Jahorina from the Special Brigade of the Ministry of Interior of the Serb Republic (RS) - the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
