Heavy Traffic on Road E79 Due to Serious Chain Catastrophe

One man is dead, and a woman was injured in a heavy chain catastrophe on road E79 near Montana, reported bTV. 

The incident happened this morning shortly after 8:30 am near Sumar village.

In an attempt to make a left turn in the direction of Montana, a car is hit by a truck. Seconds after the initial crash in the two vehicles was hit another car.

Car Accident on the Burgas-Varna Road

Car crash on the Varna-Burgas road in the area of the village of Staro Oryahovo hampered the traffic in both directions, the Varna police reported.

The incident took place at 11.15 am about a kilometer before Staro Oryahovo in the direction of Varna. According to the initial data, four cars were involved in the accident, three citizens were taken to the hospital.

Thousands of 'dangerous' traffic violations recorded over past two weeks

Traffic Police recorded a total of 7,510 "dangerous" traffic violations across the country in the past two weeks, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

Violations deemed to be dangerous include running a red light, driving in the opposite direction to the flow of traffic, not wearing a seat belt, not wearing a crash helmet and speeding.

At a meeting of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov with administration agencies and municipalities, urgent measures were discussed to reduce the administrative burden on citizens.

''When there is an administrative burden or people lose days for a document, it creates a sense of anxiety, of corruption and of tension in society'', Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, according to FOCUS News Agency.

Attica traffic accidents in May total just under 500

Thirteen people were killed, another 13 sustained serious injuries and 473 walked away with limited damage from a total of 499 traffic accidents that were reported in the region of Attica last month.

According to the Traffic Police's May report, the majority of the 499 accidents were caused by carelessness and violations of basic traffic code rules.

Increased Traffic Police Check Points Over the Weekend

Traffic police will be increasing routine checks for drink and drug driving and driving licence, as well as for the most dangerous offence - speeding, police officer Nikolay Krusharsky, Sofia Directorate of the Interior, told reporters, as cited by FOCUS News Agency.

"There are fewer cars on the roads at weekends, which encourages drivers to speed up," Krusharsky said.

Traffic police probe fatal crash involving military vehicle outside Athens

Traffic Police on Tuesday were investigating the causes of a crash that occurred on the Athens-Lamia national highway at around 8.30 a.m. involving a military vehicle whose driver was killed in the collision.

The vehicle veered off the road near the Malakasa junction and crashed into the protective barriers at the side of the road.
