Blood-letting among new techniques authorized to Turkish hospitals for treatments

Turkey's Health Ministry has been planning to give Turkish hospitals authority to take up new traditional and complementary medicine practices, including blood-letting, in order to reduce medicine costs, minimize the addiction to chemical medication and fight against illegal activities done with the use of traditional medicines. 

Health Ministry to cover 114 SMA patients' medicine expenses after 8-month-old baby dies

Turkey's Health Ministry has sent a letter to the Social Security Institution (SGK), the government's health insurance scheme, to cover all medical expenses for 114 spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patients in the country, after an 8-month-old baby died due to a lack of financial means, according to daily Habertürk.

Turkish Health Ministry provides programs on quitting smoking to 82,000 applicants

Turkey's Health Ministry has provided some 82,000 people who called them to quit smoking with a plan to make them abandon the habit. 

Some 2,610,000 people have called Turkey's "ALO 171," a call center that was established by the ministry with the aim of helping people to quit smoking, and 82,000 of them were presented a plan. 

Bicycles distributed by Turkey's Health Ministry put up for sale on internet

Bicycles which were distributed by Turkey's Health Ministry to encourage healthy living have been put up for sale on the internet, daily Hürriyet has reported.

The free bicycles had been distributed as part of a campaign that was conducted to promote physical activity by the Education and Health Ministries.
