Turkey on April 29 commemorated the 104th anniversary of the historic Ottoman military victory over British forces during World War I.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke with his Russian counterpart over the phone on April 28. 

According to diplomatic sources, Çavuşoğlu and Sergey Lavrov discussed the novel coronavirus and developments in the region.

Frigates of the Turkish and Italian navies conducted a joint training session in the eastern Mediterranean, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said on April 24. 

The presidents of Turkey and Iran on April 22 discussed the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic in a phone call, according to an official statement.

Turkey's Directorate of Communications said Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani also exchanged views on bilateral relations and regional developments.

Turkey's defense minister on April 15 attended a NATO teleconference on fighting coronavirus.

Hulusi Akar joined the defense ministers of 30 NATO countries to discuss combatting the pandemic, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said on Twitter.

Turkish and Russian troops conducted a fourth joint ground patrol in northwestern Syria in line with the Moscow agreement, Turkey's National Defense Ministry said on April 25. 

Turkey's National Defense Ministry on April 8 said a total of eight YPG/PKK terrorists were "neutralized" in northern Syria.

In a Twitter post, the ministry said commando units struck a group of four terrorists who opened harassment fire on security forces in the area, earlier cleared by Turkey's Euphrates Shield Operation.

A new cease-fire in an area of northwestern Syria rocked by violence is set to start just after midnight on Jan. 12, Turkey announced.

Turkey had pushed hard for the cease-fire, coming after Idlib, Syria endured months of battering by the Assad regime and its allies, sending about a million war-weary civilian refugees flocking to the Turkish border.

Turkey's defense minister held a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart to discuss recent developments in Iraq, an official statement from Turkey said on Jan. 6.

According to the statement issued by Turkey's National Defense Ministry, Turkey's Hulusi Akar and the U.S.'s Mark Esper addressed security issues in the region concerning both countries.

At least one civilian was killed and 26 injured in a car bomb attack in northern Syria on Dec. 18, according to Turkey's National Defense Ministry.

"Another crime has been added to the list of inhumane terror attacks carried out by PKK/YPG terrorists who know no limits when it comes to evil," the ministry said on Twitter.
