Electricity blackouts were still ongoing in Istanbul on Jan. 2, as officials say Turkey's largest city and nearby provinces will continue to suffer from power outages on Jan. 3.

Turkey's automotive exports are expected to reach $25 billion in 2017 with an 8 percent increase from 2016, according to sector representatives. 

The head of the Turkish Automotive Parts Industry Association (TAYSAD), Alper Kanca, has said that around $10 billion of these exports will most likely be achieved by domestic suppliers. 

Thousands of workers from the factories of car giants Tofa? and Oyak Renault in western Turkey continued their strike on May 19, in a rare wage dispute to hit the country's flourishing car sector.
