Dead end road?

The problem in Cyprus is not finding a resolution to the over 50-year-old power sharing quagmire between the two peoples of the island but to pretend as if a solution is wanted by a certain date. Is this an overstatement? Probably.

UN extends mission in Libya

The United Nations Security Council decided on extending the U.N. Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) until June 15 to help the country to establish a government.

The resolution requested U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to report to the Security Council on the implementation of this resolution at least every 60 days. 

Missile tests don't violate nuclear deal: Iran FM

Tehran's recent ballistic missile tests did not violate a U.N. resolution and were not illegal, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said March 15 after being questioned on the issue by Australia.

The United Nations Security Council met on March 14 at the request of the United States to discuss the missile tests that have raised the prospect of new sanctions.

Assad tells Putin he will help with Syria ceasefire

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday morning that his government was ready to assist in implementing a ceasefire in Syria, which was proposed by Russia and U.S.A.

The agreement on ceasefire will take effect on February 27, and concerns the cessation of hostilities in Syria, excluding Islamic State and Nusra Front militants.

Syrian national of YPG-links behind Ankara blast, says Turkish PM

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu has announced that a Syrian national with links to the People's Protection Units (YPG) was identified as the perpetrator of the attack in Ankara. The attacker received assistance from outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in Turkey, the prime minister said.
