Turkey, Iran calm down tension regarding poem

Turkish Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu held a phone call with his Iranian counterpart on late Dec. 12 over a recent dispute regarding the Turkish president's recitation of a poem on a visit to Azerbaijan, which Tehran deemed as support for the secession of Azerbaijani ethnic parts of Iran, and the Iranian side said the parties "resolved a misunderstanding."

Top Turkish, US diplomats discuss cooperation amid COVID-19

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke by phone with Turkey's foreign minister on May 18 on cooperation between Washington and Ankara against the coronavirus pandemic.

'Pleasure speaking with Turkish Foreign Minister @MevlutCavusoglutoday about U.S.-Turkey cooperation to counter COVID-19,' Pompeo tweeted.

Ankara hails Baku's show of unity against virus

Turkey on April 11 hailed a gesture by neighboring Azerbaijan in the capital Baku honoring the countries' cooperation against coronavirus.

"As part of the mutual fight against COVID-19, Turkish and Azerbaijani flags are flying together on Heydar Aliyev Cultural Center, one of Baku's symbols," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu said on Twitter.
