Five healthcare workers of Matei Bals Institute get infected with novel coronavirus

Five healthcare professionals of the Bucharest-based Matei Bals Institute of Infectious Diseases got infected with the novel coronavirus, the manager of the healthcare facility, Adrian Streinu-Cercel, told AGERPRES on Thursday. According to him, it is about two doctors, a nurse, a biochemist and an assistive worker. Of the five, one doctor is symptomatic.

75-year-old, 84-year-old women, latest COVID-19 fatalities in Romania; death toll - 94

72 medical staff, nine residents of Bucharest hospital nephrology unit, in isolation

As many as 72 medical staff of the nephrology unit of the Sf. Ioan Hospital in Bucharest have been put in isolation after a patient tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the Health Ministry reported on Wednesday in a press statement. The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Romania passed the 2,000 mark Monday evening, moving the country to stage four in the fight against the disease. Top emergency management official Raed Arafat, announced that more than 2,100 positive COVID-19 cases were confirmed, of which 593 were in the city of Suceava.
