Rate of positive COVID-19 tests rises to 30 pct: Expert
The rate of positive cases detected in COVID-19 tests has risen from 3 to 30 percent in Türkiye, with a significant majority anticipated to be associated with EG.5, a new subvariant unofficially nickname as Eris, a prominent infectious disease expert has revealed.

A new increase in Covid-19 hospitalizations and the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus has been recorded in Greece, with the EG.5 subvariant, or Eris, on the rise.
In its weekly report on Thursday, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) noted that 563 patients were hospitalized with Covid-19 on August 7-13, which was almost 100 more than the week before.

Covid cases rising along with summer complacency
Due to the absence of measures in entertainment venues on islands and generally in areas swamped by tourists there has been a rise in Covid-19 cases in Greece this summer again, combined with a slight decrease in the immunity of the population. National Public Health Organization (EODY) experts cite test positivity, urban wastewater analysis and hospital admissions.
