A total of 2 billion euros has been paid to the Treasury by the telecommunication companies which won a tender for the launch of advanced 4.5G technologies in Turkey.

Turkey will launch its TURKSAT 4B communications satellite from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan on Oct. 16, according to a statement by the Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ministry.

The TURKSAT 4B Communication Satellite is Turkey's sixth to be put into orbit and will work in tandem with a similar one named Turksat 4A, which was launched on Feb. 25, 2015.

Turkey has launched its TURKSAT 4B communications satellite from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan, according to a statement released on Oct. 15 by the Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ministry.

Drilling works for a roadway tunnel connecting Istanbul?s European and Asian sides, the Eurasia Tunnel, has been completed. 

The two continents have been connected by a 3.34 km-long tunnel under the sea in the framework of the project, which is also dubbed the Istanbul Straight Road Crossing Project. 

Transport Minister Feridun Bilgin has said preparation works are ongoing for a new metro line between the Kaynarca district on Istanbul?s Asian side and Sabiha Gökçen Airport. 

A Gülermak-YSE consortium won the tender to construct the line, Bilgin stated, adding that the land has been officially submitted to the consortium to start construction works. 

A project to construct a subway line connecting Istanbul?s third airport to the city center has been launched, said Transportation Minister Feridun Bilgin.

Turkish fourth-generation (4G) telecom services are envisaged to be operational by the first day of 2016, Communications Minister Feridun Bilgin has said.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on April 14, Bilgin said GSM operators had been asked to ready their networks before the end of 2015.
