Turkey to launch new telecommunications satellite

Turkey will launch its TURKSAT 4B communications satellite from the Baikonur Space Center in Kazakhstan on Oct. 16, according to a statement by the Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Ministry.

The TURKSAT 4B Communication Satellite is Turkey's sixth to be put into orbit and will work in tandem with a similar one named Turksat 4A, which was launched on Feb. 25, 2015.

Drilling works completed in Istanbul's Eurasia undersea tunnel

Drilling works for a roadway tunnel connecting Istanbul?s European and Asian sides, the Eurasia Tunnel, has been completed. 

The two continents have been connected by a 3.34 km-long tunnel under the sea in the framework of the project, which is also dubbed the Istanbul Straight Road Crossing Project. 

New metro line to be built to connect Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen Airport

Transport Minister Feridun Bilgin has said preparation works are ongoing for a new metro line between the Kaynarca district on Istanbul?s Asian side and Sabiha Gökçen Airport. 

A Gülermak-YSE consortium won the tender to construct the line, Bilgin stated, adding that the land has been officially submitted to the consortium to start construction works.
