Sure, we have come close to severing ties with the rest of Europe and the West often in our history, and risked squandering our First World status. If this was averted, it was thanks to our survival instinct.

Serbian PM signs book of condolences for Fidel Castro

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday signed a book of condolences opened at the Cuban embassy in the wake of the passing of Fidel Castro.

Turkey's main opposition party to attend Castro's funeral

A delegation from Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) will travel to Cuba to attend the funeral of Cuba's iconic late leader Fidel Castro on Dec. 4. 

The will be headed by CHP Deputy Chair Veli Ağbaba, Istanbul deputy Sezgin Tanrıkulu and Kocaeli deputy Tahsin Tarhan, the party announced on Nov. 29. 

Turkey's main opposition head pays condolence visit to Cuban Embassy after Castro's death

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has visited the Cuban Embassy in Ankara to pay tribute to Cuba's late President Fidel Castro, who died at the age of 90 on Nov. 25. 

"Fidel Castro is a leader who wrote history, a leader who fought for the freedom and independence of his nation," Kılıçdaroğlu wrote in the condolence book at the embassy. 

Nikolic signs book of condolences at Cuban embassy

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic signed at the Cuban embassy in Belgrade on Monday a book of condolences for Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban revolution.

"It is important that the ideas with which Castro liberated and led Cuba live on in the Cuban nation and leaders," Nikolic wrote in the message, according to Tanjug.

Greek PM Tsipras to leave for Cuba Monday night

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras will be departing for Cuba Monday night to attend the 9-day public mourning ceremony for the deceased former Cuban President-dictator Fidel Castro. Tsipras will be among other world leaders in attendance at the Plaza de la Revolucion where the people of Cuba will gather to honour Castro.

Tsipras to visit Cuba to pay respects to Fidel Castro

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is to travel to Cuba on Monday night to participate in an event in Havana commemorating Fidel Castro who died on Friday at the age of 90.

According to government sources, Tsipras will meet with SYRIZA's political council on Monday morning and with visiting European Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner Pierre Moscovici before departing for Cuba.
