Belgrade's Festival Offers Trip to Planet Jazz

Under the slogan 'Planet Jazz', the 32nd Belgrade Jazz Festival explores the theme of the globalisation of jazz, featuring artists from Latin America, Scandinavia and everywhere in between.

It kicks off on October 26 and runs until October 30 at various venues across Belgrade, including Sava Centre and Dom Omladine.

Belgrade Honours Bowie in Sound and Vision

An exhibition of photographs of Bowie, paintings that were dedicated to him or inspired by his work, and reviews of movies in which he appeared will be held at the Yugoslav Film Archives from May 5 until early August.

A concert dedicated to Bowie will also be staged in the Academic Park in central Belgrade, with well-known Serbian musicians expected to perform.

Celebrating New Year's Eve in Serbia

Belgrade starts celebrating early this year. Starting on December 29, the city hosts four days of concerts in front the National Assembly.

On December 29, the band Miligram kicks off the festivities, followed by performances on December 30 by the band Van Gogh and Serbian pop star Zeljko Joksimovic.

Belgrade landmarks in colors of France

The Sava River Bridge, Palace Albania and the Statue of the Victor in the Belgrade Fortress were on Saturday lit up with the colors of the French flag.

City Manager Goran Vesic announced earlier that Belgrade and Serbia would in this way "symbolically express solidarity with the friendly people of France that was shaken by a dreadful terrorist attack."
