Turkey will not retreat from procuring the Russian S-400 anti-missile defense systems despite U.S. warnings for sanctions, Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın said on June 28.

"It is a development that will affect our relations negatively," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin said on Wednesday.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan might hold a joint rally with the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), and the Great Union Party (BBP) might join under the "People's Alliance," but the date and venue is yet to be discussed, presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın has said.

Opposition parties have strongly responded to speculations that Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar and presidential spokesperson İbrahim Kalın have visited former President Abdullah Gül to convince the latter not to run for presidency, stating that such a visit "amounts to a military intervention of politics." 

Turkish Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın said on April 7 that Turkey was talking to Russia about the Syrian town of Tel Rifaat and would not need to intervene in the area given Moscow's assurances that Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) militants were not present there.

Turkey will not withdraw its troops from Afrin despite the urging of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın has said.
