Despite the numerous undeniable obstacles, the search for a mutually accepted solution on the name dispute with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is continuing.

Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov and his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias are set to meet on Friday in Vienna with the UN mediator, Matthew Nimetz, to resume their ongoing efforts for a breakthrough in the dispute over Macedonia's name.

Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias's intention to brief party leaders next week on the progress of talks over the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia with his FYROM counterpart is seen by analysts as an indication that developments are on the way.

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias is planning to brief party leaders on developments in talks with his counterpart from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) on Monday or Tuesday.

As Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and his counterpart from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia prepare to meet in Vienna with UN envoy Matthew Nimetz, the domestic divisions over the name dispute with FYROM are clear.

Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias heads to Vienna for talks on Thursday and Friday with his counterpart from the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) which are expected to determine the course of negotiations over a longstanding name dispute. 

Kotzias will meet Nikola Dimitrov for the second time in a week under the aegis of United Nations mediator Matthew Nimetz. 

Greece and Macedonia are optimistic about finding a solution to the dispute over Macedonia's name that has marred bilateral relations and hampered Macedonia's EU and NATO accession, Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias and his Macedonian counterpart, Nikola Dimitrov, said in Skopje.

"We believe in an honorable compromise and… this means that you can't have everything you want," Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said on Friday following talks in Skopje with his counterpart, Nikola Dimitrov, on ongoing negotiations over the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).

Key talks will begin today in the Macedonian capital Skopje between Macedonia's and Greece's foreign ministers, Nikola Dimitrov and Nikos Kotzias, reports BGNES.

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) said Monday he hoped that a settlement on the name row with Greece can be reached by summer.
