With tickets having sold out on the nights announced to date, composer and conductor Stavros Xarchakos has added more to his run of shows focused on laiko composers at Gazarte in downtown Athens. Xarchakos will conduct a seven-member orchestra of top soloists who will also accompany him on vocals.

Dimitris Kalantzis Quintet | Athens | January 15

The Half Note in downtown Athens presents the Dimitris Kalantzis Quintet in a jazz tribute to Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis. The quintet is made up of Dimitris Kalantzis on the piano, Takis Paterelis on saxophone, Dimitris Papadopoulos on trumpet, Alex-Drakos Ktistakis on drums and Giorgos Georgiadis on bass. Doors open at 8.30 p.m. and the concert starts an hour later.

Yiannis Parios | Piraeus & Athens | September 5 & 14

With a career spanning five decades, much-loved Greek singer Yiannis Parios is scheduled to perform two concerts in Piraeus and Athens this month. This first will be at the Veakio Theater in Piraeus on Thursday, September 5, and the second at Theatro Petras in the northwestern Athens suburb of Petroupoli on Saturday, September 14.

Kazantzidis Tribute | Salamina | August 25

A number of Greek artists will be coming together at the Evripideio Theater on the island of Salamina on Sunday, August 25, to celebrate the life and music of Stelios Kazantzidis, 18 years after his death. A leading singer of Greek laiko music, he collaborated with many of Greece's foremost composers, including Manolis Chiotis, Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis and Stavros Xarhakos.
