Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said on Tuesday that his country wishes to participate in the trilateral cooperation among Cyprus, Greece, and Israel in the energy field, saying his country is a "natural continuation" geographically.

He also said his country wishes to enhance its relations with Cyprus, particularly in the fields of energy, economy, and investments.

Europe's largest warship, the French navy flagship Charles De Gaulle, docked at Limassol port once again on Friday, in view of upcoming joint military exercises between the armies of Cyprus and France.

Cyprus is looking to step up the fight against match-fixing with the introduction of a string of additional measures, including a change in existing laws that would permit authorities to monitor suspicious betting activity on matches, the country's president said Friday.

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci will meet next Monday to discuss possible ways of cooperation to protect the Cyprus population from the coronavirus.

The United Nations envoy to Cyprus warned on Jan. 20 of "growing skepticism" among the island's population that recent diplomatic efforts between the rival communities will herald a comprehensive peace deal.

Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı received the UN special representative at the capital Lefkoşa on Jan. 10.
