It is crucial to raise the ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) votes in Istanbul above Turkey's average to win the upcoming elections, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said, urging his party to double efforts when campaigning. 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has criticized the United States for its support of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), arguing that the weapons the U.S. provided in Syria "have ended up in Turkey."

 German-Turkish author Dogan Akhanli was arrested in Spain on Saturday after Turkey issued an Interpol warrant for the writer, a critic of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's government, fanning an already fierce row between the NATO allies, reported Reuters.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Aug. 19 slammed German Foreign Minister Sigmar Garbiel over his remarks suggesting that Ankara was intervening in German elections, urging him to know his limits.

Ankara is a "crucial" trade partner for Moscow, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Friday, according to TRT News. 

"Multi-dimensional cooperation of our countries is developing," Novak said while in Turkey's Aegean province of Izmir during an address at opening day of the 86th Izmir International Fair, where Russia is attending as a partner country.

Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ said on Aug. 19 that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call on Turkish citizens in Germany not to vote for Merkel, Schulz and Greens only aimed at Turkish-origin voters not other German citizens. "This is very clear but there are statements (from Germany) that are very disrespectful, insolent and immodest.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to visit Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and New York in September. 

Erdoğan will meet Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana between Sept. 8 and 10. He will then travel to Azerbaijan on Sept. 10-11 where he will meet Azerbaijani President İlham Aliyev. 

A very interesting development took place the other day: A prominent pro-government journalist, who has until recently been an unconditional supporter of Turkey's Syria policy, suddenly switched sides.

Indeed, this individual is among the cadre of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's A330 jet. 

The ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) provincial head in the Central Anatolian province of Aksaray, Abdulkadir Karatay, joined recent resignations from the party, following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's warning against "fatigue" within the AKP. 

In a written statement on Aug. 18, Karatay said he would not run for the post again.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called Germany's ruling politicians "enemies of Turkey" who deserve to be rejected by German-Turkish voters.

Germany will hold a general election on 24 September, and about one million ethnic Turks living in Germany can vote. A majority of them backed Mr Erdogan in an April referendum.
