The former head of the Financial Crime Squad (SDOE), Yiannis Diotis, on Wednesday denied any wrongdoing in the handling of the Lagarde list and insisted that the memory stick he was given containing the names of Greeks with deposits in Switzerland had been tampered with before he got his hands on it.

Former Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou appeared before a special court on Wednesday on charges of tampering with a document and attempted breach of trust in connection with his handling of the so-called Lagarde list of Greeks with Swiss bank accounts.

?I am innocent,? Papaconstantinou told the court. ?I categorically deny all the charges.?

The Greek Finance Ministry announced on Friday that Panayiotis Danis has been appointed the new special secretary of the Financial Crimes Squad (SDOE), following the resignation of Stelios Stasinopoulos.
