The conquest of Mosul by Sunni Islamist militants this week and the seizure of the Kirkuk oil hub by Kurdish forces show that Iraq is heading toward a breakup and that the borders of the Middle East country will sooner or later be redrawn. However, before such a breakup becomes reality, we may see the broader region dragged into the fighting.

BELGRADE -- Serbia's future prime minister, Aleksandar Vučić, "met on several occasions with renowned British diplomat Jonathan Powell," writes the daily Danas.

Vučić confirmed this and told the newspaper that they spoke about "the manner of work and organization of his cabinet."

“We remain in contact [with the Albanian government] and Mr Blair would of course still be happy to help, as both Albania and the region mean a huge amount to him, but there is no contract,” Cirian Ward a spokesperson for Blair told Balkan Insight.

“Any help would be done at no cost to the Albanian government,” Ward added.
