BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Monday evening a delegation of four government members - Deputy PM Aleksandar Vulin and Ministers Bratislav Gasic, Adriijana Mesarovic and Nenad Popovic - would be representing Serbia at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.

Two dozen world leaders are gathering in Russia on Tuesday for the opening of a summit of the BRICS group, an alliance of emerging economies that the Kremlin hopes will challenge Western "hegemony."

BELGRADE - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that, in a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he had expressed the hope Serbia would not impose sanctions on Russia and that he had expressed gratitude for Russian support for Serbia's efforts in the UN and the territorial integrity of Serbia, and noted that that would not change.

Yulia Navalnaya, widow of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, expressed her intention to run for the Russian presidency in an interview with the BBC. She emphasized her commitment to continuing her husband's fight for democracy, stating that when the opportunity arises, she will enter the election race.

Russia will under no circumstances allow Ukraine to build nuclear weapons, Russian President Vladimir Putin said, adding that his country is interested in putting an end to the war as soon as possible.

NATO must avoid becoming directly involved in Russia's war in Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz cautioned during his meeting with US President Joe Biden in Berlin. Scholz expressed gratitude to the US for its continued support of Kyiv.

The Kremlin is expected to leverage its strategic partnership with North Korea, established in June 2024, to deploy troops along its borders, signaling Russian President Vladimir Putin's intent to postpone mobilization for as long as possible.
